High-pressure pumps for filter presses are the most indicated for treating sewage sludge. APK offers a range of 40 types of centrifugal slurry pumps which are conceived for supplying one, two or three-stage versions filter presses and which have a flow rates up to 1100 m3 / hour and pressures of 21 bar.
The advantage of APK pumps for sewage sludge is the lateral suction on the horizontal design. It is perfect to optimally manage the supply and discharge pressure, so to guarantee a real benefit to the mechanical seal.
These models can reach a flow rate of 1500 m3 / h. Some pumps for sewage sludge can be proposed in vertical or submerged versions.
During the activated sludge process, wastewater and biological sludge are pumped into an aeration tank and combined. Air is then injected into the mix to help break down the biological matter. This mixture then flows to a second clarifier, or settling tank, where the activated sludge settles and is pumped out. Typically, about 35 percent of the sludge is then returned to the aeration tank to help maintain a high population of microbes to break down the organic material. This sludge is commonly referred to as return activated sludge. Because more activated sludge is produced than is needed for return sludge, any surplus activated sludge, commonly referred to as waste activated sludge, is pumped out of the tank for disposal.
There are several types of sewage sludge pumps. They differ according to the needs, the characteristics of the waste water to be treated and the available resources:
centrifugal ones are suitable for low viscosity slurry which contains very few solid particles;
compressed air membrane ones are very useful to produce a consistent sludge crust, so to obtain a higher percentage of solid slurry; progressive cavity models are ideal for the treatment of thick slurry; rotary lobe ones are particularly suitable for high viscosity fluids.
We have a wide range of sewage sludge pumps, which mainly belong to high pressure types for filter presses. We have developed over 40 models for this purpose and they can be customized according to customer needs.
Our high pressure filter press sewage pumps are specifically designed for applications with abrasive and / or corrosive materials and they use a variety of special coatings: from rubber to hard PEMO alloy (750-800 HB), from stainless steel to hastelloy.
Centrifugal pumps are most widely used for lifting sewage. These pumps work on the principle of centrifugal force. The sewage which enters inside the pump is revolved at high speed by means of impeller and is thrown to the periphery by centrifugal force.
Thus, the velocity head is converted to pressure head. This head forces the sewage to move through the delivery Centrifugal pipe. Centrifugal pump may be of the following types:
Horizontal axis flow centrifugal pump (also known as the non-clog pump)
Disintegrating pump
Volutetype
Turbine type etc.
